Across the entirety of Argaia, the Phoenixborn cry out in anguish. People of the cities tremble in fear, and those scholars who still remember Alibrimbor’s fateful prophecy, wring their hands in trepidation. The time for talk has ended. There is no quarter left for philosophy or ideals. Deep inside each of Argaia’s protectors, the Phoenix spreads its wings and its cinders flare. It will be denied no longer.

Hello, Ashes fans! 

Plaid Hat Games is excited to announce that both the Grave King and the Protector of Argaia expansions are available today from our web store and should be available from retailers shortly! For fans that are keeping up with the many dice combinations in Ashes, James and Fiona mark the final combination of dice from all six types of magic (ceremonial, charm, divine, illusion, nature and sympathy).

We have always prided ourselves in our ability to create compelling, creative, and competitive expansions to our card games, and it has been our pleasure to expand the world of Ashes these past years. But as with Summoner Wars, so too do we take pride in knowing when the time is right to declare a work complete. For no matter how good the tale, all stories must end.

The Grave King and Protector of Argaia expansions will mark the end of the Ashes line, as we feel these two final decks make excellent last chapters, and will provide fans with a legendary collection of cards that will entertain for years to come.

But we’re not done! It’s time to prepare for an appropriate send-off!

The Ashes Complete Your Collection Tournament - Dallas, Texas

To celebrate all that Ashes has given our studio and fans, we’ve organized to have one last no-holds-barred tournament here in Dallas, Texas. In association with Common Ground Games, we are pleased to announce that the Ashes Complete Your Collection Tournament will take place on Saturday, June 22nd from 12:00 P.M. to 6:00 P.M. There will be participation prizes including one limited edition neoprene playmat for each participant, as well as several all-new alt-art Phoenixborn cards. The winner will receive one playmat for each of the original seven Phoenixborn as well as an Ashes poster signed by designer Isaac Vega himself. And of course the winning, victorious Phoenixborn will be declared the official, final Phoenixborn in the War of Ashes!

We will have details on these prizes in a future article, so stay tuned for more information. The tournament is limited to 32 participants, so if you intend to participate it is imperative that you fill out this survey with your name and email address to ensure that your spot is reserved! Additionally, there will be plans to attend a nearby Cidercade afterwards with fans and staff alike, to relax, play some games, and share a toast to Ashes! 

The Final Battle

In addition to the Grave King and the Protector of Argaia, the Rise of the Phoenixborn base game has also been reprinted and is returning to our web store! We’ve had a reprint of the Children of Blackcloud and Frostdale Giants as well, not to mention a huge restock of Ceremonial, Charm, Nature and Illusion dice! There’s never been a better time to complete your collection and gather each Phoenixborn to join the battle! Be sure to check out our web store and finish off your collection!
