Crystal Clans: Everybody Sing Along
The Blood Clan, Part 1
It's preview day, hooray! Have you read through all of our Crystal Clans previews? Check out the links at the bottom of this article for a full rundown. Today we're previewing the 4th of 6 clans that come in the base game - the Blood Clan!
The Blood Clan is named as such because they know that blood is thicker than water. Their connection and loyalty to each other give them strength. They certainly know how to stick together!
The Blood Clan's signature ability is Horde. If the top unit of your squad has the Horde ability, you are not limited to just 3 units in the squad; you can pile them up as high as you like! I have seen more than one 10+ unit squad in my day.
Most of the Blood Clan units have this ability, but what is really needed is inexpensive units to take advantage of it.
Marauders pack a punch on a low initiative budget, and can zoom around the battlefield quickly. But before discussing them further, lets look at their sibling unit, the Trappers:
These 2 units are the meat and potatoes of the Blood Clan. They are inexpensive and they can stack up forever and ever. Best of all, their battle card effect actually adds them to the battling squad. So they are jumping into the fray from every possible direction.
Still, these units won't last long. If you're looking for someone who can take a punch and punch back, take a look at Den Mother Gra.
The Den Mother, revered by all in her clan, is quite hardy with 10 defense. She can protect a whole big stack of units behind her, and the more that are in her squad, the stronger she becomes.
When you play the Blood Clan, you are incentivized to fill the battlefield up with as many units as possible. That way, you're taking advantage of Horde, and of units like Den Mother Gra and especially the big guy below.
Big is, well, Big. And strong. He's not fast, but he's REALLY hard to kill once he gets into place. And if you've got a large army on the board, they can break into chorus and bring Big's presence that much faster.
These units support each other. They're bound by Blood. And there's more of them than there are of you.
Only two clans left that we haven't seen at all! The Water Clan and the Stone Clan are two of my favorites, so tune in next week!
