The Corpse of Viros Preview #3
From the Ruins
Welcome back, Ashes players! Preview season continues for the first expansion in the Red Rains cycle: the Corpse of Viros! If you missed our announcement of this set, catch all the details of this monumental new set here.
This expansion comes with a mono-ceremonial preconstructed deck of all-new player cards! Ceremonial magic places a heavy emphasis on wound tokens in play, let’s check out some new ways it does so.
Summon Bone Crow
Ready Spell. Main
Side, Exhaust, 1CC: If a unit was destroyed this turn, place a Bone Crow conjuration onto your battlefield.
Bone Crow
Conjuration (4)
1/1/0
Feast 1: When this unit is declared as an attacker, add 1 to its attack value for the remainder of the turn if it is targeting a card with any wound tokens on it.
When using ceremonial magic, there are bound to be many units being destroyed, whether your opponent’s or your own. Bone Crow is quick to enter play after a unit is destroyed, making them a great way to refill your battlefield after making a sacrifice. Once they are in play, use them to attack wounded targets for greater effect!
Summon Calamity Golem
Action Spell. Main, 3CC
Destroy an ally you control to place a Calamity Golem conjuration onto your battlefield. Place wound tokens on it equal to the printed recover value of the destroyed ally.
Calamity Golem
Conjuration (1)
3/5/0
Rancor: When this unit is declared as an attacker, deal damage to a target unit an opponent controls equal to the number of wound tokens on this unit.
The manifestation of Noah’s contempt is here with Calamity Golem! Offer your sacrifice to the broken remains of the city of Viros to create a titan ready to clash with the Chimera! With its large life value, it is capable of storing many wound tokens to make its Rancor ability a truly terrifying ability.
Blood Brawl
Action Spell. Main, 1CC
Resolve the following effect once for each wound token on units you control:
-You may deal 1 damage to a target unit an opponent controls.
As the battle rages on, your warriors are bound to be in a damaged state. Use Blood Brawl to take advantage of these situations with a powerful blast of damage to match the blood you have on the table!
