Plaid Hat Places High in Dice Tower Top 100
Mice and Mystics and Summoner Wars near the top
Each year around this time, Tom Vasel, host of the world's most popular board game podcast, lists his favorite 100 games via video, and the last few years, he's added the people's choice as well as his 12-year-old daughter Melody's favorites. The videos are always entertaining and promote good discussion about games.
Summoner Wars debuted on Tom's list in the 20s (back when it was just the starter sets) and last year was 5th overall. With so many fancy new games and expansions on the market, how far did Summoner Wars drop?
Well it didn't fall at all of course. In fact it moved up into the number two spot as the second greatest board game of all time in Tom's opinion. Woohoo!
Tom notes that part of the reasoning for his ranking is that he just plays the game nonstop and sees himself still playing it in twenty years. Considering Tom's irrational love, bias, and obsession with Cosmic Encounter (his #1 pick) I'd say this is proof positive that Summoner Wars is the greatest game of all time. (Just kidding, Tom. Well, I mean what I say, but it's all in good fun.) Summoner Wars also ranked high on the People's Choice and on Melody's list.
The other big win is that Melody picked Mice and Mystics as her 8th best game of all time. Considering that she plays a lot of games with her dad, it sounds like the game is getting the exact response it strives for from one of its target audiences, although the praise for Mice and Mystics has been pouring in from every corner of the internet. (Have you grabbed the downloadable chapter yet?)
Congrats to Colby and Jerry and thanks again to Plaid Hat Games for making such great games.
